WINGS OVER WASHINGTON

Imagine that you are in an airplane, flying over all of the magnificence and glory that is Washington State. Illustrator Brian Miller from Orlin Culture Shop was asked to represent this phenomenal flight for the aerial ride called Wings over Washington, located in Seattle, WA. These stunning scenes are actually over 5 feet wide and 7 feet high and they greet you at the building where the ‘ride’ exists. To see more of Brian’s great illustrative work, click HERE!




ZIKA

September 13, 2016

The Zika virus, also known as Zika fever is an epidemic outbreak that is spread primarily by the female daytime active Aedes mosquitoes. The name originates from the Zika Forest in Uganda where the virus was first isolated way back in 1947. Biomedical artists Sharon & Joel Harris from Articulate Graphics illustrated the striking mosquito during pathogenesis. Don’t worry, no one has gotten ill from this illustration.

Recently, Ralph Voltz had the pleasure of working with author and Pediatric Speech Pathologist, Teri Kaminski-Peterson M.S. CCC/SLP, on her second book, Talk With Me: The Big Book of Exclamations 2. Ralph created illustrations for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers with renderings of the places they frequent...parks, birthday parties, bath time. The goal is to encourage participation during reading!

Jake’s piece “Under the Pyramids” was for a box cover commissioned by Fantasy Flight Games for an expansion in their Lovecraftian horror line of tabletop games, “Eldritch Horror.” Jake is the second artist with work nominated from our group (see below).

Brian Miller/Orlin Culture Shop created this winter wonderland for the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. The illustration was used for a cover and poster insert for their magazine, Merkur. Working with international clients is always a joy for Brian as it gives him opportunities to learn more about other cultures and discover beauty around the globe.

Illustrator Jake Murray was fortunate enough to work on this dramatic cover for Tor Books for collaborating authors Larry Niven and Steven Barnes. The Seascape Tattoo is one of several collaborations between Nivens and Barnes and the first time Jake was tapped to add his illustration skills to the mix.

During this time of year, we do inventory on all that makes us grateful. We were so grateful to work on a project earlier this year for the Yale New Haven Hospital. Laura Watson created four fun illustrations depicting a child’s journey. The art is hanging in the pediatric part of the hospital in hopes of offering cheer to the sick little ones.

Please join us in welcoming a new illustrator Rimas Valeikis to the team,  Rimas joins us all the way from Vilnius, Lithuania. He works in traditional and digital media and specializes in children’s picture books and caricatures. Rimas also was the winner of the Swedish Reality TV show, Baltic Robinson: 2002 (Like Survivor, but set in the Baltic region). This guy has many talents!
