For those headed to New Zealand, the Sky Tower is a major attraction for celebrations of all sorts. It is ‘bucket-list’ worthy. While waiting in line for a ticket, take a good look at the murals, created by our own Jo Tronc. Who’s sporting a whole new look for fall? The Virginia-based, Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company! Brian Miller, of Orlin Culture Shop, LLC and David Moore, both contributed their beautiful and awe-inspiring outdoor landscapes to dress the labels, cans, bottles and packaging of this award winning beer crafter. Working closely with Mattel, Syd Weiler developed the packaging and game assets for this wonderful, 2-person game. 3 x 3 has chosen an animation by our very own illustrator Simon Shaw animator David Way (of our Watermark team) to receive its highest of honors, BEST IN SHOW, for their collaborative work on the REACH Awareness Campaign. REACH works closely with job seekers who are also managing a disability or health issue. In this short animation, very hard and true concepts are beautifully and positively conveyed, demonstrating the power of putting one foot in front of the other. MEN ON THE MOON

May 29, 2018

The Apollo 11 spaceflight was the first ever to land three humans on the moon. American astronauts Michael Collins, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed their lunar module, Eagle, atop the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil and Buzz would soon walk and leave footprints behind on lunar soil. A few key historic phrases have stayed with us from this mission: “Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed.” And, after placing the American flag on the surface of the moon, Buzz Aldrin said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The image above, by illustrator Joseph Qiu, captures the excitement the astronauts created on TV in front of millions of people around the world. Compelling historical content coupled with captivating illustration is a great way to capture and engage the minds of today’s students. Recently, Jake Murray was asked to illustrate some historical artwork for Storyworks, a magazine by the publishers at Scholastic. As you can see, the image below tells of the drama, intrigue and fear that captivated the world during Hitler’s reign and a boy who worked to stop him. FUN-A-DAY HEROES

April 24, 2018

Illustrator Mark Collins recently participated in a large group show at the Delaware Contemporary Museum. The event, called FUN-A-DAY, had over 200 artists creating a small piece of art, no larger than 5”x7”, for each day of March. Mark’s chosen theme was an anti-war tribute to the heroes that make up our US Veterans. Each of the 31 illustrations portrayed a soldier in varying activity, emotion and climate.
