You know that feeling of discouragement you get when you’ve been told you couldn’t do something? Poor Ty, a cute little turtle, feels the same way as the other animals in the forest tease and belittle him. Apparently, the ants had felt the same way before, and we all know they can lift 5,000 times their body weight! And that is what he did, time and time again, thus becoming a hero to us all! Created by Charles Schulz, who dreamt of becoming a cartoonist. Much to our delight, his dream came true. TELLING THE HARRIET TUBMAN STORY

For more than a decade, Harriet Tubman safely escorted more than 300 slaves to freedom. Born into slavery, prior to her rescue mission, she was a cook, nurse, and even a spy. A portion of Tubman’s story is illustrated here for Scholastic by Jake Murray. Illustrator Syd Weiler created this image for the Wall Street Journal. Apparently, a year that ends in 18, plus an address with an 8, or a price with an 8 brings prosperity, and realtors are loving this lucky new year. Merkur, the magazine of the Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg, has just been honored with an Award of Excellence from the International Creative Media Award (ICMA), a competition for quality, creativity and design in the field of international publishing. Gracing the covers for over 2 years, and now on for the third year running is illustrator, Brian Miller of Orlin Culture Shop, LLC. This award recognizes Miller for his amazing work. “Brian has illustrated more than a dozen covers and his work, in all remarkable points, delights us at each new edition. Many readers have told us that they really liked his captivating style, cleverly mixing modernity and aestheticism, and we are delighted that this Award of Excellence will devote his immense talent, which contributes to the success of the Merkur,” said Patrick Ernzer, editor-in-chief of Merkur. The juried competition saw entries from 376 publications, representing 27 countries. Did you know that over 30 million people globally are reported to be afflicted with the slow, often progressive, finger bending of the hand, called Dupuytren’s Contracture? Medical illustrators, Sharon and Joel Harris of ARTICULATE GRAPHICS, help to show how the hand forms a nodule or thickening that literally tightens the normally elastic fascia and bends the fingers. It’s out! The hefty and prestigious CA annual just hit the stands, and we are proud to announce that Brian Miller/Orlin Culture Shop has a winning piece in the Poster section of the 58th Advertising Annual. Brian had the wonderful opportunity to illustrate one of five winning posters in a series for client, Radio Flyer, LLC. Collaborating with ad agency, FCB Chicago, Brian created Ninja Moose Canyon.
